What is TANREN

In Japan, the term "training" is used to refer to the process of disciplining the body and mind.

ITANI ATHLETIC CLUB (IAC) in Honolulu, Hawaii was the first facility outside of Japan to introduce training machines from the training equipment manufacturer “TANREN”.

 

TANREN is the one and only unique training machine designed by martial artist Akihiro Ooka.

In Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, a town with a population of about 50,000 people, TANREN also operates a gym with 2,500 members and is loved by the local community.

 

While everything has become more convenient with the help of advanced technology, the functions of the body have deteriorated greatly for everyone from children to seniors.

 

Although it is not widely known, Japan has become one of the world's leading super-senior societies.

One of the major social issues is the gap between healthy life expectancy (The period of time during which you can live without health problems limiting your daily life) and life expectancy.

The difference between healthy life expectancy and life expectancy is more than 10 years. This means that nearly 10 years of the rest of one's life, which should be enjoyable, is spent in inconvenience, having to rely on someone else's help to live.

And in Japan, studies have shown that if you do not exercise, you will lose 1% of your muscle mass every year starting at age 30.

 

The Japanese government strongly encourages people to build a body that is resistant to aging, and among many training machines, TANREN training machines can greatly help improve healthy life expectancy, and the machines have been installed in gyms and hospitals all over Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south.

 

The use of TANREN training machines by seniors all over Japan to kaizen (improve) their bodies and minds after retirement has been spreading throughout the country, and the results have been gratifying.

 

Here in Oahu, Hawaii, an island with strong ties to Japan, we created IAC in downtown Honolulu in 2021 in the hope that everyone, young and old, male and female, will learn the importance of training their mind and body and improving their quality of lives.

 

IAC is not the newest trendy gym, but a historical dojo that mixes the culture of Aloha and traditional Japan.
